Simple Meal Track ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing).

Profile & Health Data: You may optionally provide body metrics such as weight, height, body fat percentage, and nutrition goals (calorie, protein, carbs, fats, and water targets). This data is used solely to personalize your experience within the app.

Meal & Nutrition Data: We store meals you create, daily food logs, water intake records, meal plans, and related nutritional information. This data is associated with your account and used to provide the app's core tracking functionality.

Photos: If you upload meal photos, they are stored securely and associated with your account.

Usage Data: We collect basic usage information such as login timestamps to maintain your account and improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide, maintain, and improve the app's features and functionality
To personalize your nutrition tracking experience based on your goals and preferences
To generate AI-powered meal suggestions tailored to your dietary preferences and nutrition targets
To send transactional emails (account security, password resets) and optional notification emails (daily reminders, progress updates, weekly reports)
To provide customer support and respond to your requests

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

OpenAI: We send anonymized meal preference data (meal names, ingredients, dietary preferences, and nutrition targets) to OpenAI's API to generate personalized meal suggestions. No personally identifiable information (name, email) is shared with OpenAI.
RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat processes payment-related information in accordance with their privacy policy.
Resend: We use Resend to deliver email notifications. Your email address and first name are shared with Resend solely for the purpose of sending emails you have opted into.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers. Session data is managed securely with HTTP-only cookies.

5. Email Preferences

You can manage your email notification preferences at any time within the app's settings. Categories include account security notifications, subscription updates, daily reminders, and progress motivation emails. Account security emails cannot be fully disabled to protect your account.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including meals, logs, meal plans, profile information, and email preferences — is permanently deleted from our systems.

7. Your Rights

Access & Export: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
Correction: You can update your account information and profile data directly in the app.
Deletion: You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings. This permanently removes all your data.
Email Opt-Out: You can disable optional email notifications in the app's email preferences settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the app or via email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
